Jayalalitha Urges With PM Modi Regarding Release Of Fishermen
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Ms.Jayalalitha has condemned the central government for their inadequate support to the detention of the fishermen and has questioned the Srilankan Navy about the release of the fishermen and she has sought for a diplomatic response on the emotional issue.
She said the union government is silent in the issue and she has emboldened the Srilankan Navy for the livelihood rights of the fishermen to fish in their own Palk Bay waters. The Chief Minister has penned to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has sighted about the arrest of the 28 fishermen from the state and has asked the PM that such incidents should not occur again.
She has urged the government to release the fishermen and their boats which has to be returned to the fishermen at the earliest. Ms. Jayalalitha has said continued arrest of the Indian fishermen by the Srilankan Navy has made the Tamilnadu fishermen show their anger and frustration.
Ms. Jayalalitha has urged the Prime Minister to direct the Ministry of External Affairs authorities to take immediate action for the release of 96 fishermen and their 82 fishing weapons should be returned at the earliest. She has asked the central government to seek a permanent solution regarding the issue.
